Trailblazers well represented on MASCAC All Academic Team

North Adams, MA — A total of 1,238 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league's Fall/Winter 2020 All-Academic Team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.  MCLA was well represented on the roster with a total of 54 student-athletes making the grade.

Student-athletes who compete in championship varsity sports offered by each of the MASCAC institutions during the course of the Fall and Winter 2020 athletic season and have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester-based grade point average during the semester are eligible for selection to the Fall/Winter All-Academic Team. 

Seven sports were represented at MCLA with Men's and Women's Soccer earning top billing.  The duo combined to place 33 students on the roster.

"Congratulations to the 1,238 student-athletes who were named to the 2020 MASCAC Fall/Winter All-Academic team," Commissioner Baumann said. "This has been a tremendously challenging time for our student-athletes. I am so proud that they not only persevered and continued their academic success in the classroom but the team increased over the number from last year's team."

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University.  Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as a football affiliate member in 2013. Dean College, Eastern Nazarene College, Elms College, Mitchell College and Springfield College joined as men's golf affiliates.
