Betsy D’Agostino 1991
Betsy D’Agostino graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science
in Education. Beginning her collegiate soccer career as a
sophomore, Betsy made her presence known right away in the
women’s soccer program that was just three years old.
The Pittsfield native finished her first year second on the team in
goals with 12 and tied for most assists with six. Behind her
scoring efforts the women’s soccer team won its first MASCAC
title and advanced to the first round of the ECAC tournament. She
was also named to the first team All-MASCAC. In her final year, the
women’s soccer program was back on top of the MASCAC, winning
its second conference championship in just five years of existence
and moving on to the ECAC tournament. For three years running,
Betsy was named to the first team ALL-MASCAC behind her team
leading 11 goals and 27 points. She was honored as MASCAC Player of
the Week. The National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America
also voted her to the first team All-New England.
After graduation, Betsy returned to the College to serve as an
assistant coach for the 1991 season.
Kathryn Wapenski Galli 2000
Kathryn Galli graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology
and a concentration in Sports Medicine. She was a three sport
athlete in tennis, basketball, and softball. She has an impressive
softball career and made an immediate impact as a starting
shortstop, a position she would hold for all four year of her
collegiate career. She was named to the first team MASCAC four year
running.
Kate had the honor of playing on the 1994 softball squad that made
it to the championship round of the ECAC Division III Tournament.
In 1995, she was named first team ECAC. It was during the 1995
campaign that she led her team to a MASCAC championship and a
national tournament appearance. This team also holds many records
at the College, including most wins in a single season. In the 1997
season, Kate was the team’s Most Valuable Player, co-player
of the year in the MASCAC, and received first team All-New England
honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association. She
finished second in the MASCAC in 1997 with an impressive .486
batting average and 39 RBIs. As a captain of the softball team,
Kate was named again to the NFCA regional team and received the
College’s Sportswoman of the Year Award. She completed her
career with an amazing .425 batting average and a four-year .916
fielding percentage as a shortstop.
Jeffrey McHale 1996
Jeffrey McHale graduated from the College in 1996 with a Bachelor
of Arts in English/Communications. He was a two sport athlete
competing in soccer and baseball and was named to the first team
All-MASCAC in 1994 and 1995 for soccer. In 1995 he was the soccer
team’s Most Valuable Player and made All New England for
soccer.
Jeff overcame stage IV cancer and plans to start a sarcoma/cancer
fund to help other victims conquer cancer. He wants people to
encourage others to know that anyone has the chance to survive and
live a normal life after cancer.
Anthony Paralta 1976
Tony graduated from the College in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts in
Business Administration. He then went on to receive his MBA from
Xavier University and later received his Certificate in Financial
Planning at Merrimack College. While at the College, Tony was a
four year dual sport athlete participating in soccer and baseball.
He was the captain of both sports his senior year and the baseball
team’s Most Valuable Player in 1972. Tony was recognized for
pitching two no-hitters in one year and was chosen as a MASCAC All
Conference player.
1960-61 Men’s Basketball Team
Compiling a 21-3 record, the 1960-61 men’s basketball team,
under the leadership of Head Coach George Jarck, captured the New
England State College Conference Championship. After defeating
Plymouth State College, the team finished first in the northern
division, earning the right to take on the southern division
championships, Worcester State College. The title game was held in
North Adams and was dubbed “one of the best games ever
witnessed in North Adams.” The team went on to dominate
Worcester State 88-70 to take home the New England State College
Conference title.
