However, this was not the case for five young women from Hampshire Regional who found themselves in familiar company.

MCLA Baseball nets $2300 for the JDRF
With assistance from the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Choices Program, the team held a fundraiser in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The event was a rousing success as the day yielded just over $2300 in donations.

MCLA’s head women’s soccer coach, Deborah Raber, recently was chosen to attend the 2009 NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy. Only 25 coaches were invited to attend this year’s academy, May 27-31, in Denver, Colo.

Head Coach Jeff Puleri has announced three captains for the upcoming 2009 season. The captains for the team will be Senior OF Pat Negrini (West Stockbridge, MA), Senior OF Cory Burtman (Norwood, MA), and Junior Catcher Ken Recore (Averill Park, NY).

MCLA Baseball releases 2009 Schedule
The MCLA Baseball season is right around the corner. The MCLA nine will begin play in the Russ/Matt invitational in Winter Haven, Fl. The season opener is set for March 12 against UMass-Boston. The home opener is scheduled for March 24th against Southern Vermont.

Women's Basketball Captures 5th Seed
MCLA enjoyed a successful regular season mark of 14-11 under Head Coach Holly McGovern, including a 4-8 league slate that featured a sweep of Salem State, and the Trailblazers are led by junior forward Laura Silverman’s (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) 8.9 ppg and league-leading 10.7 rpg.
