Baseball preparing for 2012 season

2012 MASCAC Preseason Coaches Poll

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Baseball season gets underway in just over a week.  The Trailblazers are looking to rebound from a pair of subpar seasons as they enter 2012.  MCLA was selected to finish last in the MASCAC preseason poll following a vote of the league's coaches.  Bridgewater State, last season's tournament champion, was chosen as the preseason favorite.  Westfield State won the regular season title in 2011, they were selected to finish second.

MCLA returns only 10 players off of last year's roster in which the Trailblazers went 8-22.  The program does return its top starting pitcher from a year ago in Daniel Gaines.  Gaines led MCLA with 4 wins a year ago.  Rick Massey and Joe Duncan are the only other starters returning from a year ago.

The Trailblazers are under the direction of 10th year head coach Jeff Puleri.  MCLA will open its season on Friday, March 9th against SUNY-IT in Winter Haven, Fl.  The ten game slate in the sunshine state will then lead to the spring opener up north on March 21st against Clark.
