The MCLA Men's Basketball team is just wrapping up finals, but the tests are far from over. The Trailblazers will come back from a short break to take on Randolph-Macon College at the Randolph-Macon Coaches Classic in Ashland, VA. The Yellow Jackets are 8-0 and ranked #5 in the lastest national poll. That 8-0 record doesn't include an exhibition win over Division 1 American University. The Trailblazers also have a potential second round rematch with Williams College (8-0). MCLA dropped an 83-62 decision with Williams earlier in the season, a game MCLA led at halftime.
The Trailblazers head into the break on a three game skid after jumping out to a 4-2 start. MCLA, last week also lost it's only exhibition of the season in Boston against Fisher College (11-1) out of the NAIA. The Trailblazers best first half win came at Hartwick College in the Hartwick College Tournament and played a strong first half schedule that also included RPI and perennial New England power Keene State.
The Trailblazers are currently ranked 13th in the country in steals per game with 12 and junior Jon Greenberg is ranked 7th in the country in rebounds with 12.3 per game.
MCLA will return from Virginia to play at New England College on January 4th at Henniker, NH and will open up conference play on January 9th at home vs. Worcester State College.
