North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's Soccer program has released their 2017 Schedule that begins on Friday night September 1st. The 16 match slate features a nice mix of competition from the New England and New York regions, and will kick off with an opening match against Becker College at Shewcraft Field.
Under the direction of head coach Adam Hildabrand, the Trailblazers will challenge the Hawks in the season opener before traveling to Springfield on 9/3 to face Western New England. After a few days off, the Trailblazers will host the CIAO Classic. The four team classic tournament will feature MCLA taking on Union (NY) and Lehman on 9/8 and 9/9 respectively. Western Connecticut State University rounds out the four team field.
Following the CIAO, MCLA will host Cobleskill prior to kicking off MASCAC play on 9/15 when they head off to Worcester State. MCLA continues the road trip with a match against Skidmore before hosting a three match homestand. The Trailblazers welcome rival Westfield State to Shewcraft field on 9/22 and will also host Sage and Mass. Maritime during the stretch.
Turning the calendar into October will see MCLA play four of their remaining six matches on the road. They open with road tilts at Western Connecticut and Framingham State before hosting Fitchburg on Friday the 13th. The travel continues on 10/18 as they head to Green Mountain and Salem State, before heading back home for the season finale on 10/27 against Bridgewater State.
MCLA went 8-8-1 last season and fell to Bridgewater State 1-0 at home in the MASCAC Quarterfinal round. The Trailblazers will have a new look in 2017 as they graduated ten seniors.
