Tennis falls in season opener to Sage 9-0

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Tennis team dropped their season opening match to Sage this afternoon by a 9-0 score.  The Gators rolled to the win as they are now 1-0 on the season.  MCLA falls to 0-1 on the season.

The Gators didn't get much of a fight from MCLA as they took the three doubles matches in convincing fashion.  Sadie Dunn and Abbey Clobridge handled Briana Higgins and Mackenna Jordan 8-1 for the first point.  Rebecca Jackson and Taylor Gillespie defeated Jessica Dupont and McKenna Clark 8-1 as well for the second point.  Alison Trudo and Molly Cochrane earned an 8-2 win over Alyssa Keegan and Ashlee Bartels in the third doubles match to take command heading into Singles play.

The Gators continued their strong play as only the number #4 singles match was stretched to three sets.  There, Gillespie handed Clark a 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 setback.

Sage wasn't threatened from there as they earned the season opening sweep.

MCLA is back in action on Tuesday when they take on St. Joseph (CT) on the road.
