Trailblazers Beat Eagles 3-0
The Green Mountain women’s volleyball team fell to the MCLA Trailblazers on Thursday in three sets, 25-16, 25-17, 25-19.
(Poultney, VT) – The Green Mountain women's volleyball team fell to the MCLA Trailblazers on Thursday in three sets, 25-16, 25-17, 25-19. The loss puts the Eagles at a record of 4-9 on the season after dropping both meetings against the Trailblazers, with the win MCLA moves to 5-15 on the season.
The first set was a slow start for the Eagles who had trouble finding a rhythm early. They only were able to attempt 16 attacks but were able to capitalize on their limited attempts tallying seven kills. In the second set the Eagles shot themselves in the foot with five attacking errors. The third and final set Green Mountain College was up early and was able to hang around with some outstanding serves by junior Megan O'Keefe(Cato, NY/Cato-Meridian). The Eagles were led by freshman Madison Wage(Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) who had seven kills as well as sophomore Kara Egan(Breezy Point, NY/Fontbonne Hall) and senior Chanleigh Casey(Hartford, NY/Hartford) both with five kills apiece.
The Trailblazers were led by Senior Kayla Bromback who was able to get MCLA off to a fast start with 10 kills on only 17 attempts. Freshman Reagan Parrelli set the tone for the rest of the match tallying 10 assists and eight service aces.
The Eagles will now get ready for a busy and important Saturday where they will host a conference quad match with visiting Castleton State College, Johnson State College, and Lyndon State College. They will play the first match against 1-9(0-2) Lyndon State College at 12:00pm before having a five hour break when they play 2-9(0-2) Johnson State at 6:00pm.
MCLA will play Bard and CCNY at Bard starting at 2:00pm.
