Bromback Sets Record, MCLA Wins on "Dig Pink" Night
The MCLA Volleyball team will participate in "Dig Pink" night Thursday night at 7pm as they host Elms College. The event is designed to raise awareness for Breast Cancer
North Adams, MA- It was a good night Thursday night for the MCLA Volleyball team. The Trailblazers participated in their annual "Dig Pink" event; they kept a season-high five game winning streak going with a 3-0 pasting of Elms College and Kayla Bromback set a school record in kills*.
The Trailblazers jumped on Elms 25-19 in game one and Bromback wasted little time in breaking the record of 684 kills previously held by Christina Kidd ('10). Bromback broke the record early in game one and led the team in kills on the night. Bromback is a senior from Lee, MA and has been key in the resurgence of the program over the past four seasons. The 51 wins over the past four seasons (2007-2011) has been the best stretch of volleyball at the school since William Minardi coached the team from 1979-1983.
The Trailblazers won game two 25-22 and game three 25-20; and though the scores appear close the Trailblazers were in control most of the night and never really in danger of dropping a game.
The Dig Pink event is designed to raise awareness for Breast Cancer.
This fall, thousands of teams from around the country will be participating in the Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink® National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally. Middle school, high school and college teams will promote breast health education in the community as well as raise funds to further research. Dig Pink events give spectators the opportunity to become involved by making donations to the cause and by pinking out the events (i.e. donning pink to show their support).
