Bio

Jamie Morrison grew up in Eastern Massachusetts and is a graduate of Winchester High School. Jamie played at Umass-Boston for Coach Charlie Titus. He earned a B.A. in Sociology and a certificate in Native American Studies from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He holds a Masters in Education degree in Sports and Recreation Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.

Jamie has almost two decades of experience working with youth in the Native American and Boston communities. He worked with the Athletes in Action program at Northeastern University, Tobin Community School and others in the city of Boston. He worked for three years at the North American Indian Center of Boston serving as their youth coordinator and employment specialist.
Jamie was the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kan. for four seasons and also served as the Academic Support Coordinator for Athletics. Haskell is the only 100% Native American University in the country that competes athletically at the NAIA/NCAA level.

Morrison took over a team that never finished higher than last in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference and led them to a respectable 4th place finish in 2006-07. 

Morrison inherited a last place team in MCLA in 2007 and led them to 17 wins, a 2nd place finish in the MASCAC and a spot in the semi-finals of the Northeast region of the ECAC tournament in 2011.  In 2013, Morrison was named MASCAC Coach of the Year as MCLA again finished second in the conference and landed in the MASCAC finals for the first time since 1990.

Morrison also works in the summer for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe where he is the Native Tribal Scholars Program Director.

Morrison currently resides in North Adams with his two sons, Quannah (11) and Moon (6).
