MCLA Captures Much Needed Wins in Vermont

The visiting MCLA Trailblazers tallied 26 runs Thursday
afternoon, claiming victory in both games of the non-conference
double-header (10-1) and (16-6).
In the first game, MCLA batted through the lineup in the 1st
inning, scoring 5 runs on 6 hits including a double by freshman
Kaitlyn Dano (Schoharie, NY). The Eagles responded
in the bottom of the first by loading the bases, but were unable to
capitalize.
The Trailblazers tacked on 4 more runs in the second, putting the
game beyond reach. The Eagles lone score in the opening game came
in the second inning after a pair of throwing errors.
In the second game, the Trailblazers once again struck early,
tallying 3 runs in the first on a 3-run homer by Rachel
Desautels (Readsboro, VT). Green Mountain drew level in
the bottom of the inning after drawing 3 walks and a pair of
singles.
Heading into the top of the 4th, the Eagles trailed (5-4), but
MCLA blew the game wide open with a 10-run inning. The Trailblazers
again batted around totaling 8 hits.
Reigning NAC player of the week Katie Jablonski (West Rutland, VT)
went 3 for 6 on the day including a double in the second game.
Senior Brittany Holden (Schenectady, NY) pitched both games for
Green Mountain before being relieved in the 5th inning of game 2,
and went 2 for 4 from the plate.
With the victories, MCLA improves to (6-10) on the season while
the Eagle's drop to (2-6). Green Mountain travels to Skidmore
Saturday for a non-conference double-header at 2:00 pm. MCLA next
squares off against Lyndon State April 6th at 3:00 pm.
