MCLA Falls to Skidmore
MCLA fell in game one as Skidmore College sophomore Sam Crose (Assonet, MA) tossed a no-hit 2-0 shutout on Thursday.
North Adams, Mass.—MCLA fell in game one as Skidmore
College sophomore Sam Crose (Assonet, MA) tossed a
no-hit 2-0 shutout on Thursday. MCLA also lost the second
game 6-4. MCLA falls to 11-19 while Skidmore is now
18-10.
Crose had nine strikeouts and no walks. Two runners reached on
errors as the crafty pitcher earned her fifth shutout of the
season, while improving to 11-6.
The Thoroughbreds scored one in the second when Julia
Schwartz (Bryn Mahr, PA) doubled and later added another
on a sacrifice fly. Skidmore made it 2-0 in the fifth with an
unearned run.
Hadley Ameen (North Adams, MA) was the tough
luck loser pitching very well herself. Ameen has suffered some
tough losses of late, went the distance, allowing six hits and one
earned run.
In the second game, Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park,
NJ) keyed a four-run third with a two-run homer. Dinsdale
finished 2-3. Abby Fuhrman (Amherst, MA) earned
the win, allowing four runs, three earned on seven hits with one
walk and seven strikeouts.
MCLA cut it to 6-4 in the fifth, but couldn’t push anything across in the last two frames.
Megan Boyer (Clarksburg, MA) and Kate
Oullette (Norwood, MA) continued their hot hitting and had
two hits each. Kayla Koumjian (Watervliet,
NY) was 1-3 with a home run. Sarah Greenwood
(Northfield, MA) took the loss in game two for MCLA.
Skidmore will host Union College on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
MCLA will travel to Bridgewater State for a pair of MASCAC contests
beginning at 1:00 PM.
