MCLA's Wehner named to NEWBA honor roll
MCLA sophomore forward Jen Wehner was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association honor roll for her performance in the MASCAC championships.
North Adams, MA- MCLA forward Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, NY) continues to add to her impressive resume as the sophomore was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) honor roll for her performance in the MASCAC championships last week. Wehner led MCLA to its first ever tournament title and subsequent NCAA tournament bid.
The MCLA Women's Basketball will be taking on top ranked Amherst College on Friday night at 6pm in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Wehner was named MASCAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after averaging 18.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.3 blocked shots per game in her team's three victories. She posted double-doubles in all three contests, including a 20-point, 10-board performance in the Trailblazers thrilling 68-65 triumph over Worcester State College in the Championship on Saturday.
The Sophomore from Cooperstown has also been named MASCAC player of the week on two separate occasions, while also garnering first team All Conference honors. She leads the team in scoring, rebounding, blocks, and field goal percentage.
