MCLA picks up conference win beating visiting Falcons 1-0
Jennifer Ferrari's header put MCLA on the board as MCLA picks up a key conference win.
North Adams, MA- The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Trailblazers (5-6,2-2) beat the visiting Falcons of Fitchburg State (2-10, 1-3) this afternoon 1-0 at Ron Shewcraft Field.
The Trailblazers found the back of the net when Lindsay Borbolla's corner kick in the 66th minute found Brianna Dandurant's head. Dandurant then directed it towards teammate Jennifer Ferrari who put her head on it past Falcons keeper Jillian Kirouac.
The Falcons had their best scoring opportunity when Nicole Perez was on a break away with 4:30 remaining in the second half, but Danielle Heinsohn stayed solid in goal coming out and making the save.
The first 45 minutes were evenly played between the two teams, but MCLA outshot the visitors 7-4.
With the win the Trailblazers now climb to 5th place in the MASCAC standings and a chance for a play-off birth.
The Trailblazers return to action on Wednesday when Western New England University pays a visit to North Adams, start time of 4:00. The Falcons will stay on the road and travel to Wellesley on Tuesday for a 4:00 game.
