MCLA's McGovern set to coach Women's Tennis program
Current MCLA Women's basketball coach, Holly McGovern, will assume the coaching duties of the Women's Tennis program this fall.
NORTH ADAMS, MA – Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Director of Athletics Scott Nichols has announced that current head women's basketball coach, Holly McGovern, has been selected to lead the women's tennis program, effective July 1.
She will replace Mia Fabrizio, who spearheaded the program over the last two seasons.
McGovern, who has led the basketball program for the last seven seasons, will build the tennis program in the years to come. When asked about the addition to her duties, she said, "I'm excited for the opportunity to lead the tennis program. Initially, I would like to provide stability in the program, along with driving competition within practices and matches."
McGovern plans to stimulate and grow a recruiting base, while she keeps a continued focus on the academic success of the program. In each of the last two seasons, more than half of the tennis players were selected to the All-MASCAC All-Academic team.
MCLA went 1-10 this past fall. McGovern and the Trailblazers will begin their season in September.
