NASC Legend George Jarck Remembered
Remembering MCLA Athletics Hall of Famer George Jarck, 1930-2025.
ANNANDALE, N.J.—Former North Adams State College (NASC) standout basketball player, legendary coach, academic instructor and Dean of Students George Jarck passed away peacefully last month at the age of 94.
Inducted into the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 1999, Jarck's stellar basketball career which included 1,304 points, was followed by an equally impressive coaching tenure on the hardwood. He is still the program's all-time leader in wins (102) and winning percentage (.803) in six seasons at the helm.
Jarck was instrumental in instituting the men's soccer program serving as its first coach for three years and also coached the baseball team for six seasons, leading NASC to the State College Conference Championship.
Coming to North Adams from Queens, New York, Jarck would meet his eventual wife Carolyn at NASC and the two would go on to raise four children. A proud United States Army veteran, Jarck served the institution for 30 years before ultimately relocating to Annandale, New Jersey
Today, on what would have been his 95th birthday, Jarck will be honored before the 2025 season opener of the Men's Soccer program which he ushered into existence so many years ago.
