NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Athletics Department has announced their Hall of Fame Class of 2025 inductees. Included in this year's class are Sean McElroy '01 (Baseball), Allison Clark '17 (Volleyball), Paul Cooney '83 (Men's Ice Hockey) and Jonathan Greenberg '11 (Men's Basketball).
Sean McElroy '01 – Baseball
In 2001 McElroy set the single season record for at-bats and games played as well as tying the mark for runs batted in; all records that still currently stand. That same season he was chosen as the team's most valuable player and named First Team All-MASCAC. With 147 hits and 75 runs batted in, McElroy ranks in the top five in program history in those categories.
Allison Clark '17 – Volleyball
Twice named to the MASACAC All-Conference First Team, a member of the ECAC All-New England Second Team, Clark was also twice selected as an MCLA Female Athlete of the Year. Despite only playing two seasons at MCLA, Clark is the all-time program leader in attacks and kills per set and ranks in the top five in career hit percentage, total attacks, kills, total points and points played per set. She also ranks in the top ten in career total blocks and block assists. Clark holds the single season mark for total attacks (also ranks 4th), kills (also ranks 3rd), total points (also ranks 2nd), kills per set (also ranks 4th), and points per set and ranks in the top ten in matches played, hitting percentage, sets played, block assists, total blocks and total attacks per set (2nd and 7th).
Paul Cooney '83 – Men's Ice Hockey
A four-year member of the North Adams State College Men's Ice Hockey team, Cooney was a two-time captain who amassed 48 goals and 60 assists over his collegiate career and was a member of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Second Team in 1981 and 1982. Following his time in North Adams, Cooney toured France with a college all-star team and eventually played professionally in The Netherlands. Priding himself on his consistency and work ethic, Cooney was the consummate team player who led by example maximizing everything he had into a memorable and ultimately, hall of fame career.
Jonathan Greenberg '11 – Men's Basketball
A relentless force in the paint on the Men's Basketball team from 2007-2011, Greenberg is one of only three players in program history to register over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. A three-time member of both the All-MASCAC and MASCAC All-Academic teams, he also led the league and ranked in the top ten nationally in rebounding three times. Greenberg was also twice named to the Jewish Sports Review All-American team, is a two-time Louis Parisien Award winner and was twice chosen as the MCLA Men's Basketball Most Valuable Player.
This year's event will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 3 West Events at The Norad Mill in North Adams. Registration for the Hall of Fame Ceremony and Dinner requires pre-registration which can be done here:
