MCLA selected fourth in preseason poll
The 2010 Baseball season is just getting underway and MCLA was selected to finish fourth in the MASCAC preseason poll. The poll was conducted via a vote of the league's coaches. MCLA finished 3rd a season ago with a 20-15 record
North Adams, MA- The 2010 Baseball season is just getting underway and MCLA was selected to finish fourth in the MASCAC preseason poll. The poll was conducted via a vote of the league's coaches. MCLA finished 3rd a season ago with a 20-15 record, qualifying for the MASCAC postseason tournament.
MCLA graduated nine seniors off of last years team and will look to many new faces in 2010. MCLA head coach Jeff Puleri, the 2009 MASCAC coach of the year, returns for his ninth season at the helm. The Trailblazers return only three position player starters from a year ago while half of the starting rotation was lost to graduation.
Westfield State and Worcester State were tied atop the preseason poll, followed by Bridgewater State in third. Just behind MCLA was Salem State, and rounding out the poll was Fitchburg State and Mass Maritime Academy tied for sixth, while Framingham State was selected eighth.
MCLA opens play this Friday when they begin their season in the Russ Matt Invitational against SUNY-IT in Winter Haven, Fl.
