MCLA Splits with UMass-Dartmouth
The MCLA Baseball team split a doubleheader with UMass-Dartmouth today in Auburndale, Fl winning 8-4 in the opener before falling 12-7 in the nightcap. The Trailblazers are now 5-4 on the season.
Auburndale, Fl- The MCLA Baseball team split a doubleheader with UMass-Dartmouth today in Auburndale, Fl winning 8-4 in the opener before falling 12-7 in the nightcap. The Trailblazers are now 5-4 on the season.
Rick Massey earned the win in the opener tossing the first five innings. He gave up three runs while striking out three. John Ripepi and Zach Thuelen each had three hits in the victory. They each had three RBI's. MCLA used a four run second and a four run third to jump out to an 8-0 lead. The Corsairs threatened in the sixth but Mike Meaney relieved Massey with the bases loaded and no outs. He allowed only a run to score as he worked out of trouble. The Trailblazers had 14 hits on the afternoon.
Game two was a different story as the Trailblazers held a 5-3 lead after four innings. Starting pitcher Cody Weaver got into trouble in the fifth. The Trailblazer bullpen had a tough inning as they walked a pair and gave up six hits in the seven run inning.
Mike Meaney was 4-4 in the nightcap while Paul Procopio reached base four times including a pair of hits and a pair of walks. Osiris Mendez had three hits, while Theulen added another pair of hits.
MCLA wraps up the trip tomorrow morning when they play Sewanee at 9:30am
