MCLA Gets Down Early and Loses at Southern Vermont

MCLA fell 12-1 to Southern Vermont College today in Bennington, VT. The Trailblazers fall to 10-13 on the season as they approach a key stretch coming up this weekend versus MASCAC opponents Worcester State (Saturday) and Bridgewater State (Monday).
MCLA trailed 8-0 after two innings as Dale Clark struggled early for the Trailblazers. Southern Vermont scored six times on seven hits in the first inning. The Trailblazer bats were cold as they didn't reach base until the fifth inning when Chris Koch and Peter Dassatti had back-to-back singles with out. Derek Lescarbeau grounded into a double play though to end the inning.
MCLA got on the board in the sixth when Nick Mancini led off with a single and would eventually score on a Chaise Preite sacrifice fly.
Alon Willing did a nice job in relief for MCLA as he pitched four innings and allowed just two earned runs. Clark took the loss.
Mancini, Koch and Dassatti had six of the seven MCLA hits on the day.
MCLA will next play home this Friday versus Maine Presque-Isle at 2:00pm
