HIGHLIGHTS
- Game #1
- MCLA wasted little time, scoring early and often in the first inning of game number one. The Trailblazers batted around, scoring a dozen runs on only five hits, and punishing the Maccabees for committing three errors during the inning. Highlights of the inning included a delayed double steal that resulted in a Chris Vargas (Queens Village, NY) steal of home. MCLA also saw RBI singles from Collin Gevry (Newtown, CT) and Roshan Warriar (Pittsfield, MA), an RBI walk by Joshua Bissaillon (East Greenbush, NY), and a two RBI double by Vargas.
- The Trailblazers added another run in the top of the second inning when Joe Sardo (Great Neck, NY) yanked an inside fastball over the rightfield wall for MCLA's first home run of the 2026 season.
- The road team tacked on three more runs in the top of the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Camden Zerboto (Pittsfield, MA) and RBI walks by Warriar and Bissaillon.
- The Trailblazers scored seven more runs in the top of the seventh, doing so on only two hits, but made the most of some control issues from the home team that also surrendered two walks and three hit by pitches. The biggest blow of the inning was a two-run single to left field by Jake Jasminski (Milford, CT).
- Starting pitcher Cam Harrington (Pittsfield, MA) went five innings, allowing only a single run. The run came on an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the fifth by Josh Paskoff, scoring Jake Arnow, who had doubled two batters earlier. The sophomore pitcher struck out nine and moved to 1-0 on the season.
- Yeshiva's Eli Zirdok (0-1) took the loss, allowing six runs, four of which were earned, without recording an out.
- Game #2
- The second game was much more competitive, but the Trailblazers still jumped out to another early lead. This time it was the second inning when MCLA plated their first run of the game on another delayed steal of home. With Zerboto on third and Gavin Pettit (Southington, CT) on first, Pettit took off and got into a rundown, allowing Zerboto to take off for home and slide in just ahead of a throw from the first baseman, getting Pettit out of a pickle and scoring Zerboto.
- The road team added two more runs in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Daley and a failed pickoff attempt of Warriar at first base that allowed Benjamin Jacob (Pittsfield, MA) to scamper home from third when the pickoff went astray.
- Yeshiva scored all five of its runs in the bottom of the third inning, doing so on four hits. The big hit was a two-run triple by Arnow and RBI singles by Noah Steinmetz and Jacob Canner, putting the Maccabees ahead 5-3 after three innings.
- The Trailblazers would level the score in the fifth inning when Daley hit his first home run of the season, pulling a 1-2 pitch over the right field wall, bringing Warriar home with him.
- MCLA pulled ahead in the seventh inning when Jasminski doubled to the left-center gap to score Warriar and Sardo. Jasminski would advance to third on a wild pitch and then score on a Daley fielder's choice because the catcher forgot to apply a tag.
- Junior pitcher Henry Blake (Brookfield, MA) (1-0) went the final one and two-thirds for the Trailblazers, striking out three without allowing a base runner to secure his first career win. Zach Magerman absorbed the loss for Yeshiva after throwing a clean sixth inning but allowing three in the seventh to fall to 0-1.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Warriar finished the afternoon with five hits, five runs scored, two more driven in, and a pair of stolen bases.
- Daley drove in four runs, all in the second game, while also stealing a pair of bags.
