HIGHLIGHTS
- Game #1
- After a 1-2-3 top of the first, MCLA set the tone in the bottom of the first, plating a pair of runs on two hits. Benjamin Jacob (Pittsfield, MA) started the inning with an infield single and then stole second base before Roshan Warriar (Pittsfield, MA) worked an eight-pitch walk. Two batters later, Mike Daley (Wallkill, NY) loaded the bases with another walk. Jacob and Warriar then scored when Jake Jasminski (Milford, CT) singled into right-center field.
- The Trailblazers doubled their lead in the second inning when Collin Gevry (Newtown, CT) led off with a single through the right side of the infield and promptly stole second ahead of a Joe Sardo (Great Neck, NY) walk. Two batters later, Warriar lifted a fly ball to right field that fell in, but caught Sardo stranded between bases while advancing Gevry. Warriar then took his turn to pilfer second base, bringing Joshua Bissaillon (East Greenbush, NY) to the plate with runners on second and third. Bissaillon then lined a shot that ate up the Lion shortstop, allowing Gevry and Warriar to score.
- MCLA tacked on a pair of runs in the sixth inning when Bissaillon dropped a two-out double down the right field line that scored Sardo and Warriar, who had both walked.
- Emerson broke up the shutout in the seventh inning, scoring an unearned run on a Charlie Coor's sacrifice fly.
- The fourth inning saw the one time that MCLA starter Cam Harrington (Pittsfield, MA) was threatened, as the righty had to work out of a one-out, bases-loaded jam by striking out the Lions' Jack McCoy and inducing a weak grounder to second from Liam Curley.
- Harrington picked up his second win of the season, advancing to 2-0, after five two-hit shutout innings and striking out seven. Tyler Metcalf absorbed the loss for the Lions to fall to 0-2.
- Game #2
- Emerson's bat awoke in the second game, scoring nine runs in the first four innings, three runs in the second, and a six-spot in the fourth.
- After being held off the scoreboard for six innings by the Lions' Lukas Phillip, the Trailblazers attempted a comeback in the seventh inning. Finally getting to Phillip for four runs, two earned, to chase him from the game with one out in the frame. Reliever Luc Maass continued to add fuel to the fire, walking two and hitting two of the five batters he faced. Xavier Hall took over with the bases loaded and retired the one batter he faced to pick up his first save of the season.
- Phillip advanced his record to 1-0, while Bissaillon suffered the loss for MCLA to fall to 0-1.
