DAVENPORT, Fla. – The MCLA Baseball team continued its spring break Florida trip with a pair of games at the RussMatt Invitational against the Carleton College Knights. The first game saw the Knight rally in the seventh inning before taking the game in the extra frame. The second game saw one bad inning cost the Trailblazers before their rally in the seventh fell short.

HOW IT WENT DOWN
- Game #1
- MCLA posted the first runs of the game in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs on one hit. The hit was an RBI single from Joshua Bissaillon (East Greenbush, NY) that plated Benjamin Jacob (Pittsfield, MA). The other runs scored on an error that allowed Jake Jasminski (Milford, CT) to reach, and scored Bissaillon, and another error by the Knights' catcher allowed Chris Vargas (Queens Village, NY) to scamper home with the Trailblazers' third run.
- Carleton responded with four runs in the top of the next frame, posting four runs on four hits, including an RBI single by Adam Rubin, an RBI triple by Sam Chutkow, and an RBI double by Reece Wellsandt.
- MCLA leveled the game in the bottom of the second when Roshan Warriar's (Pittsfield, MA) RBI single scored Camden Zerbato (Pittsfield, MA).
- The Trailblazers then added runs in each of the next three innings, including two runs in the third, and one each in the fourth and fifth innings. The third inning run was scored when Joe Sardo's (Great Neck, NY) double to the right-center field gap brought home Mike Daley (Wallkill, NY) and Jasminski. Warriar scampered home with the run in the fourth, scoring on a passed ball, and a bases-loaded walk to Bissaillon forced home Zerbato in the fifth.
- The Knights started to rally back in the sixth, scoring two runs on a home run by Chutkow. In the seventh, the tying runs scored on a single to center field by Jackson Darke to force extra innings.
- Carleton scored two runs in the eighth with the benefit of two Trailblazer errors.
- Game #2
- While the first game saw the teams combine for at least one run in every inning, the second game saw all the scoring occur in two half-innings. The biggest blow was a six-run second inning by the Knights. Nathan Barnhart drove in two runs on a single, while Leo Feingold, Wilson Taraday, and Will Schnepf all had RBI singles, and Darke hit a ground-rule RBI double.
- All three Trailblazer runs came on a two-out bases-loaded triple by Jasminski in the top of the seventh inning.
