Baseball Drop MASCAC Opener to Anna Maria College
Clayton Dutfield had two hits as MCLA fell in MASCAC play.
Northborough, Mass. – After successful spring break trip to the RussMatt Invitational, the MCLA Baseball team opened conference play this afternoon, traveling to the New England Baseball Complex for a matchup with Anna Maria College. Three AMCAT pitchers combined to keep the Trailblazers off the scoreboard, limiting MCLA to three hits, including two by Clayton Dutfield, to secure a 10-0 final score.
THE BASICS:
- Date: Tuesday, March 24, 2026
- Score: AMC 10, MCLA 0
- Records: Anna Maria College 10-6 (MASCAC 1-0) | MCLA Trailblazers 6-6 (MASCAC 0-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MCLA was limited to three hits, including two by Clayton Dutfield (Delmar, NY). Joshua Bissaillon's (East Greenbush, NY) fourth inning lead-off single completed the Trailblazers collection of hits.
- The Trailblazers' best offensive opportunity came in the bottom of the third inning when Benjamin Jacob (Pittsfield, MA) worked a two-out walk and then stole his way to second base. This was then followed by Dutfield's second single of the afternoon, but both players would be stranded on the bases when the inning ended one batter later.
- MCLA limited Anna Maria runs in only three innings, but all three innings saw crooked numbers go up on the scoreboard. The AMCATs posted that first crooked number in the first inning when Brady Aylward's opposite field shot cleared the rightfield wall. Jake Jasminski (Milford, CT) completed the next four innings, only allowing a single baserunner on a hit by pitch, while striking out five. The freshman fell to 1-2 on the season.
- AMC put together another two-out rally in the sixth inning that was highlighted by a two-out two-run double by Brayden Wright and an RBI single by Jaiden Driscoll.
- Anna Maria added to their lead in the ninth, plating four runs on seven hits, including a two-run double by Mason Kolczewski.
UP NEXT:
On Wednesday, MCLA will be back in action when it travels to Robison Field at Karl Steffen Ballpark and RPI for a non-conference matchup with the Engineers. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
