Baseball Fall on the Road to RPI
Roshan Warriar had two doubles, but MCLA dropped a non-conference matchup to RPI.
TROY, N.Y. – The MCLA Baseball team took to the road for the second time this week when they crossed the state line into New York for a non-conference clash with the RPI Engineers at Robison Field. Roshan Warriar had a pair of doubles for the Trailblazers, but it was enough to overcome the home team's four players with multi-hit games including Michael Lebenson who went 2-4 with a pair of homeruns, three runs scored, and four driven in.
THE BASICS:
- Date: Wednesday, March 25, 2026
- Score: MCLA 3, RPI 10
- Records: MCLA Trailblazers 6-7 (MASCAC 0-0) | Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 10-6 (Liberty 3-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RPI cracked the scoreboard with a single run in the first inning when Michael Lebenson completed a steal of home as part of a double steal with Alex Coombes.
- In the third inning, the Engineers started a pattern of scoring in odd numbered innings, posting five runs on just three hits. The biggest blow came on a two-run homer by Lebenson and a two-RBI double by Charlie Morse.
- RPI engineered a pair of runs in the fifth inning, when Jack Mullins and Morse each scored on a single up the middle by Walker Abdallah.
- The Engineers posted two more runs in the seventh inning when Lebenson homered to centerfield with Abdallah on base ahead of him.
- MCLA responded with three runs in the top of the eighth when Roshan Warriar (Pittsfield, MA) led off with double to left field and then scored when Dariel Rodriguez (Bronx, NY) drove a 0-1 pitch back up the middle. Rodriguez then moved to third when pinch hitter Colin Ogborn (Linwood, NJ) doubled into the left-centerfield gap and scored on Gavin Pettit's (Southington, CT) single through the left side of the infield. Two batters later, pinch hitter George Feliz (New York, NY) plated Ogborn with a single to left.
- RPI's Dylan Chan picked up his first win of the season, moving to 1-0 after throwing two hitless innings of relief. The Trailblazers' John Arnott (Southington, CT) absorbed the loss, falling to 0-1 on the year.
UP NEXT:
