Joshua Bissaillon drove in four, but MCLA dropped a matchup at Fitchburg State University in MASCAC play this afternoon.
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The MCLA Baseball team took to the road this afternoon, heading east to Riccards Field for a MASCAC clash with the Fitchburg State University Falcons. Joshua Bissaillon drove in four runs for the Trailblazers, but the Falcons jumped out to a large early lead after scoring multiple runs in four of the first five innings to double up MCLA 15-7.
THE BASICS:
- Date: Monday, April 13, 2026
- Score: MCLA 15, Fitchburg 7
- Records: MCLA Trailblazers 8-15 (MASCAC 2-9) | Fitchburg State University Falcons 5-21 (MASCAC 3-11)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MCLA was the first team on the scoreboard, when Jake Jasminski (Milford, CT) wore a pitch to lead off the game and moved to third on Roshan Warriar's (Pittsfield, MA) single to right-center field. Joshua Bissaillon (East Greenbush, NY) brought Jasminski home, lifting a sac fly to right.
- The Falcons would respond with three runs on a two-out homerun to left by Michael Cooper in the bottom of the frame, and then scored four more in the second on a two-run double by Tyler Fonck and a two-run single by Joseph Abt.
- In the top of the third, Bissaillon helped the Trailblazers cut into the deficit with a single down the left field line, plating Jasminski after the freshman had walked and moved to second on a wild pitch.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Fitchburg scored four more runs behind back-to-back home runs by Fonck, a three-run shot, and Abt, a solo homer. In the fifth inning, the home team scored two unearned runs when Maxwell Riordan reached on an error.
- The best inning of the game for MCLA came in the top of the sixth as the road team strung together of positive plate appearances when Joe Sardo (Great Neck, NY) led off with a single to right-center and was advanced to second when Christopher Gallagher (Albany, NY) worked a five-pitch walk to chase the Falcons' starter, Nolan Berkeley, from the game. Benjamin Jacob (Pittsfield, MA) welcomed reliever Thomas Watts with a double to the left-center gap that scored Sardo. Collin Gevry (Newtown, CT) followed with another long at-bat, walking on seven pitches. Two batters later, Warriar banged the first pitch he saw to left, scoring Gallagher, followed by Bissaillon recording his third RBI of the afternoon with a single to center, bringing Jacob around.
- Both teams would score two runs in the eighth inning. MCLA did so on an RBI double by Bissaillon for this fourth RBI, and a sac fly by William Whitcomb (North Haven, CT). The Falcon runs came on sac flies by Liam Currier and Fonck.
- The Trailblazers did threaten in the ninth, loading the bases on walks by George Feliz (New York, NY) and Jasminski sandwiched around a single through the left side of the infield by Jacob, only for the runners to be stranded.
- Fitchburg's Berkeley picked up the win to move to 1-3 after allowing four runs on six hits. Collin Booth (Clarksburg, MA) took the loss for MCLA, falling to 1-2.
