Baseball Can’t Hold Off Vikings, Fall 7-5
Cam Harrington was dominant for 8+ innings, but MCLA fell to Salem State in MASCAC play this evening.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Baseball team kicked off its home-and-home MASCAC series with Salem State this evening, welcoming the Vikings to Joe Wolfe Field. Cam Harrington was dominant for eight-plus innings, but would finish with a no-decision after the Trailblazer bullpen was unable to hold the lead in the ninth inning.
THE BASICS:
- Date: Monday, April 20, 2026
- Score: SSU X, MCLA X
- Records: Salem State University Vikings 12-13 (MASCAC 8-7) | MCLA Trailblazers 8-19 (MASCAC 2-13)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MCLA was first on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Joshua Bissaillon (East Greenbush, NY) plated Jake Jasminski (Milford, CT) with a long single into the left-centerfield gap.
- Trailblazers' starting pitcher Cam Harrington (Pittsfield, MA) worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out situation in the top of the fourth inning with a strikeout and a fly ball to left field.
- In the bottom of the fifth, MCLA added two more runs to grow their lead to 3-0. Joe Sardo (Great Neck, NY) opened the frame with a four-pitch walk and then moved to third when Benjamin Jacob (Pittsfield, MA) singled through the right side of the infield to put runners on the corners. Two batters later, the Vikings guessed correctly and had Jacob picked off, but the speedy outfielder was able to beat the throw from the first baseman and was called safe at second. Both Sardo and Jacob would come around to score on Roshan Warriar's (Pittsfield, MA) two-out, two-run single through the five and a half hole, to go ahead 3-0.
- The score would hold into the ninth inning with Harrington coming out to start the frame. The sophomore righty induced a pop fly on the infield to pinch hitter Michael Buccaro, but that would fall off the glove of an MCLA defender to start the inning. Ryan Bourgeois then walked to end Harrington's night.
- Collin Booth (Clarksburg, MA) walked the first batter he faced, pinch-hitter Devin Fuegen, and then allowed a single into right field by Lucas Rincon to pull the road team within one run. A sacrifice bunt by Cameron Diprizio and a four-pitch walk by Antonio Belgrove would conclude Booth's outing and bring in Mason Barcomb (West Springfield, MA).
- The Vikings would tie the score when Yabdriel Gonzalez was hit by Barcomb's 3-1 pitch, forcing home pinch runner Seth Sullivan.
- Salem tagged on four more runs, plating three runs on a dropped fly ball to left field by Nolan Currier and a throwing error by the cutoff man, before adding a final run on an RBI ground out to first base by Buccaro.
- The Trailblazers made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth, scoring two runs on a two-out single by Bissaillon that scored Jacob and Jasminski, who had reached on a walk and a hit by pitch, respectively, before the Vikings closed the game out with a strikeout.
- Jackson Beehr threw three innings of one-hit relief to earn the win for Salem, improving his record to 1-0. Booth absorbed the loss for MCLA, falling to 1-3.
