Vikings Take Two from Baseball
MCLA dropped a pair of MASCAC games this afternoon at Salem State.
SALEM, Mass. – The MCLA Baseball team wrapped up its season series with the Salem State University Vikings this afternoon. Mason Barcomb threw his first complete game as a member of the Trailblazers, but MCLA dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Central Campus Field, falling by scores of 8-0 and 6-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game #1
- The home team scored runs in each of the first four innings, plating two in the first, one in the second, two in the third, and finally three in the fourth.
- The first inning runs were scored on a two-run double by Nolan Currier.
- The Vikings also say RBI hits from Owen Duggan (a single in the third), Jack Doyle (an infield single in the third), and Duggan again (a single in the fourth).
- MCLA's Mason Barcomb (West Springfield, MA) threw the third complete game of his collegiate career and first with the Trailblazers, striking out four over six innings. The loss drops his record to 1-2 on the year.
- Ethan Hill also went the distance for the Vikings, scattering five hits over seven innings while striking out six against three walks to up his record to 2-1.
- Game #2
- MCLA scored runs in the first and last frames of the second game of the day. Camden Zerbato (Pittsfield, MA) drove in runs in both frames, scoring Benjamin Jacob (Pittsfield, MA) in the first after Jacob had walked and taken second with a stolen base. In the seventh, Zerbato picked up his second RBI of the day, scoring Roshan Warriar (Pittsfield, MA) with an RBI fielder's choice.
- Jacob scored his second run of the game in the seventh after leading the inning off with an infield single, moving to second on Warriar's single to left-center field, and then coming around on Joshua Bissaillon's (East Greenbush, NY) single up the middle.
- The Vikings stacked their runs into the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, scoring one more run in each frame than they had the one before. In the fourth inning, it was Lucas Rincon plating Duggan, followed by Ethan Stepputtis (RBI single) and Duggan (sac fly) getting RBIs in the fifth, and RBI singles by Aidan Lynch, Antonio Belgrove, and Yabdriel Gonzalez in the sixth.
- Salem's Nick Krompegal threw four innings of scoreless relief to pick up his second win of the season, moving to 2-2 after striking out eight in four innings. Caleb Welcome (Rensselaer, NY) took the loss for the Trailblazers, dropping to 1-2.
UP NEXT:
On Wednesday, MCLA will be back in action when it plays host to Williams College at Joe Wolfe Field for a non-conference matchup with the Ephs. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
