North Adams - A majority of the MCLA Men's basketball team traded in their hoop sneakers for some running shoes on Sunday to run in the 32nd annual Sam Gomez Road Race. The 5k is named after MCLA 2009 Hall of Fame inductee Sam Gomez. Gomez founded the running program here at MCLA and was instrumental carrying that program forward in to what is currently one of eleven varsity programs at the college.
The Trailblazers Kris McLaughlin finished first in his age group and fifth overall. Joey Paoletti and Brendan Kordana were right behind McLaughlin. Other Trailblazers who ran were Jon Greenberg, Derek Gibbons, Karl Sims, Marvin Thompson, Mike Perreault, Pat Ryan, Chris Harris, Ben Correia, Tim Fish, James Rivers and Adam Cottrell.
