MCLA Men earn bye in 2011 MASCAC Championships, will host Semifinal on Thursday
The MCLA Men's basketball completed its best season since 1999 as it secured the 2nd seed in the upcoming 2011 MASCAC Men's Basketball Championships. The Trailblazers earned a bye and will now host a semifinal matchup on Thursday evening at 7pm.
North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's basketball completed its best season since 1999 as it secured the 2nd seed in the upcoming 2011 MASCAC Men's Basketball Championships. The Trailblazers earned a quarterfinal bye and will now host a semifinal matchup on Thursday evening at 7pm.
MCLA, led by 4th year head coach Jamie Morrison, finished 7-5 in the MASCAC while posting an overall mark of 16-8. The sixteen wins is the most for the program since the 1999 season where MCLA tied atop the conferences regular season standings.
The Trailblazers are led by senior forward Jon Greenberg, who leads the team in scoring and rebounding. Joining Greenberg in double figures in scoring is junior guard Chris Harris. Newcomer Jamal Brown has been one of the top sixth men in the conference as he also chips in with 11 ppg of the bench.
MCLA will await the winner of #3 seed Bridgewater State and #6 seed Worcester State. Those two will meet Tuesday with the winner earning a trip to North Adams. The Trailblazers split with both potential opponents during the regular season as the road team won every matchup.
The championship game will be played at the highest seed remaining on Saturday.
