Men's Basketball is MASCAC preseason favorite

2013-14 MASCAC Men's Basketball Preseason Poll
North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's Basketball program was already going to enter the 2013-14 season with high hopes after reaching the MASCAC finals a year ago. With the release of the MASCAC preseason poll, those lofty expectations came full circle. The Trailblazers were tabbed as the preseason favorite to cut the nets down as the conference released the poll this afternoon.
MCLA recieved five first place votes and a total of 47 points to easily outdistance Worcester State, who recieved one first place vote and 38 points. Salem State earned the other top vote and finished with 37 points.
Bridgewater State is fourth with 30 points while last year's regular season champion, the Westfield State Owls are fifth with 23 points. Framingham State and last years tournament champions, the Fitchburg State Owls, are sixth and seventh respectively with 11 and 10 points.
The Trailblazers bring back a host of players from the runner up squad a year ago. All MASCAC performer, senior John Jones, returns as the top scoring and rebounding threat. He will be joined by the reigning MASCAC rookie of the year in sophomore Paul Maurice. In all, MCLA will return 10 players from last year.
Led by Head Coach Jamie Morrison, who collected the 2012-13 MASCAC Coach of the Year, will lead his talented group into action on November 15th when the Trailblazers open play at the Wesleyan tournament against Dickinson.
