Slow start dooms Men's basketball as they fall at Fisher 99-85

Lynn, MA- The MCLA Men's Basketball team surrendered 59 first half points and the deficit was too much to overcome as the Trailblazers fell 99-85 in a non league tilt against Fisher.  The Falcons improve to 11-8 on the season.  The loss marks the sixth straight for MCLA as they are now 4-13.

The Trailblazers started slow and never recovered.  Fisher opened the game on a 15-1 spurt and never looked back as they raced out to a commanding 59-29 halftime lead.  The Falcons shot a torrid 58% from the floor in the opening half and shared the ball well assisting on 16 of 21 made field goals.  

MCLA on the other hand struggled on offense as well.  The visitors shot just 24% (10-41) in the half and had 8 turnovers.

The Trailblazers played a much better second half and actually clawed their way back into the game.  They steadily cut into the margin and with just over two minutes remaining, were down just twelve.  The Falcons eventually got a defensive stop and closed it out at the free throw line to seal the victory over the Trailblazers.

Fisher was paced by Tyler Schular's game high 30 point effort.  The senior was 11-18 from the floor including a 6-10 showing from beyond the arc.  He was joined in double figures by Malik Wilbon who tallied 18 points on 7-10 shooting.  Aaron Penn and Brodric Smith each had 12 points, while Kyle Holmes added 10 points and 6 assists.

For MCLA, Dakari Hannah Wornum had a double double of 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the team.  Paul Maurice and Careem Kirksey each finished with 13 points, while Khalil Paul chipped in with 10.  Ki-Shawn Monroe had 6 points, but dished out a game best 7 assists.

The Trailblazers are back on the road Wednesday night when they travel to Bridgewater to face the Bears in MASCAC action.
