Men’s Basketball Dropped Non-Conference Matchup at Curry College
MCLA fell in non-conference play this afternoon.
MILTON, Mass. – The MCLA Men's Basketball team took to the road this afternoon to the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium at Curry College for a non-conference matchup with the Colonels. Curry's Manny Hidalgo led all scorers with 20 points and was one of four Colonels to cross the double-digit scoring threshold while MCLA's Kamau Franks paced the Trailblazers with 14 points in the home team's 95-78 win.
THE BASICS:
- Date: Saturday, November 22, 2025
- Score: MCLA 78, Curry 95
- Records: MCLA Trailblazers 1-2 (MASCAC 0-0) | Curry College Colonels 2-4 (CNE 0-1)
HOW IT WENT DOWN
- Curry came out of the gate hot, breaking out to an early 8-2 lead only for the Trailblazers to respond with an 8-2 run of their own, tying the game at 10. The run was capped by a three-point play from senior guard Craig Williams (Dover, DE). While the Colonel's Jeremiah Predin responded with a three-point play of his own, junior guard Colin Quinn (South Hadley, MA) rallied the Trailblazers by driving to the hoop on the ensuing possession. Junior guard Kamau Franks (Converse, TX) forced a turnover on the inbound pass and drew a foul from Tommy Mallinson. While Franks was at the line, Mallinson added a technical foul to his rap sheet, allowing Franks to drain all four shots. This would represent the high-water mark for MCLA at 16-13 with just under 13 minutes to play in the first half.
- The remainder of the first half belonged to the home team, the Colonels exploded for an additional 38 points over the final 13 minutes. That 13-minute total just happened to match up with the Trailblazers 38-point total in the half.
- Curry's Manny Hidalgo then caught fire, scoring 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half. JD Heneke (17 points), Favour Okeke (15 points), and Isaiah Andino (10 points) all reached double-digit points for the home team.
- MCLA was led by 14 points from Franks and 10 points from Williams.
- Senior forward Jayden Mills (Bronx, NY) led the Trailblazers with seven rebounds, one less than the game-high total from Shawn Charles for the Colonels.
