Men’s Basketball Fall at VTSU-Lyndon
MCLA dropped a non-conference bout to VTSU-Lyndon this afternoon.

LYNDON, Vt. – The MCLA Men's Basketball team returned from their winter break with a road trip to the George W. Stannard Gymnasium for matchup with the VTSU-Lyndon Hornets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MCLA opened the game with a run to their largest lead of the afternoon, bookending baskets from senior forward Jayden Mills (Bronx, NY) around a basket and free throw by senior guard Craig Williams (Dover, DE) and a jump shot from freshman guard Frank Field (Adams, MA).
- The Trailblazers would reach that same high water point at other times in the first half with layups by junior guard Kamau Franks (Converse, TX) with just over 14 minutes to play in the half to go up 11-6, and again on a pair of made free throws by graduate student forward Jaxen Potter (Ballston Spa, NY) to make the score 13-8 with just under 12 and a half minutes to go.
- The Hornets would outscore MCLA 39-16 for the remainder of the first half, going into the locker room at 47-29, mostly on the back of 18 points from Wesley McIntyre.
- The second half saw the teams mostly play to a stalemate until the Trailblazers started chipping away at the deficit, eventually getting with in single digits after layups by graduate student guard Colby Burleson (Pittsboro, NC) with just under two to play and Williams with 77 seconds to play and forcing MCLA to have to foul down 82-74.
- The VTSU-Lyndon finished out the game by hitting the tail ends of three foul shot opportunities to finish the game at 85-74.
- The Trailblazers' Field and the Hornets' McIntyre each finished with a game high 22 points. MCLA also got double-digit point showings from Williams (14), Mills (11), and sophomore guard Leondre Sanchez (Willimantic, CT) (10). Franks had a game-high 11 boards while Mills just missed a double-double, pulling down eight rebounds.
