Quinn Scores 27 but Men’s Basketball Dropped by Worcester
MCLA fell in their MASCAC opener this evening.
WORCESTER, Mass. – The MCLA Men's Basketball team took to the court for the second time in the 2026 calendar year, opening their MASCAC schedule this evening at Worcester State University. MCLA's Colin Quinn scored a career high 27 points to lead all scorers but the Lancers had five players finish in double-digits as the home team held on for a 89-79 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a game that included nine ties and 12 lead changes, the game was truly back and forth in the first half, with freshman guard Frank Field (Adams, MA) and junior guard Colin Quinn (South Hadley, MA) scoring 10 points for the Trailblazers and Dajon Burton doing the same for Worcester. The teams finished the first half with the home team only ahead by a single point at 39-38.
- The teams continued to trade haymakers after the Lancers opened the half with a 7-0 run, only to see MCLA chip away, and tie the game at 52-52 with just over nine minutes to play in the second half behind a layup by junior guard Kamau Franks (Converse, TX).
- From Franks' layup on, Worcester State doubled down on the offensive end, outscoring the visitors 27-13 over the next six minutes and working out to their largest lead of the night at 14 points, 79-65.
- Quinn led all scorers with a career high 27 points for the Trailblazers while Field finished the night with 16 points. Senior guard Craig Williams (Dover, DE) just missed a double-double for MCLA, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds. Franks contributed a game-high five assists to go with a team-high three steals.
- The Lancers' Johnny Annan did finish with a double-double, scoring a team-high 16 points and pulling down a game-high 10 boards. Rayan Sablon (13), Tzar Powell-Aparicio (11), Ethan Daleba (10), and Burton (10) all finished the night with double-digit point totals.
