HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Trailblazers opened the game hot, building out an early 9-2 on the back of three pointers from junior guard Kamau Franks (Converse, TX), junior guard Colin Quinn (South Hadley, MA), and senior guard Craig Williams (Dover, DE).
- Framingham would pull as close as two points when Fallou Koite sank a pair of free-throws to get back to 13-11 with 11 and a half minutes to play in the first half before pulling even at 16 all as the clock clicked under seven minutes when Lorenzo Washington also made both of his shots at the charity stripe. Another free throw by Vondre Chase would give the Rams their only lead of the first half.
- MCLA closed out the half with some blistering shooting, outscoring the visitors 18-2 in the final six minutes. Quinn started the run with a turnaround jumper in the paint. Franks added a pair of threes. Williams knocked down three of four free throws with just under a minute to play in the first frame and added a driving layup with about a half minute to go. A pair of free throws by AJ Thompson would send the teams into the halftime locker room with MCLA ahead 34-19.
- The sharp shooting for the Trailblazers carried into the second half, with MCLA growing their lead to as many as 23 points with under 14 minutes to go, when Quinn drained a three from the left corner to go up 48-25.
- Framingham would quickly chip away at that lead, pulling back to even with just over eight minutes to play at 48-48 on a layup by Washington. With the game getting emotional at times, the teams played the final eight minutes to an 11-11 stalemate, ending regulation at 59-59.
- The Trailblazers' freshman guard Frank Field (Adams, MA) opened the overtime scoring, laying in a sweet feed from Franks, but it would be the home team's only lead of the overtime period. Washington would respond with a layup of his own. A pair of free throws by Joshua Saint Jean put the Rams ahead 63-61 with just under two minutes to go, and Saint Jean followed with a layup before Framingham converted on seven of eight free throws to secure a 72-65 win.
