HOW IT WENT DOWN
- The first half was very back and forth, featuring 11 lead changes. It took a 6-0 run by the Rams, starting with eight minutes to go, to get the first bit of separation between the teams. The entire run consisted of a pair of threes by Fallou Koite and forced MCLA to call a time out with just over seven minutes to go in the half, and Framingham ahead 26-18.
- Graduate student forward Jaxen Potter (Ballston Spa, NY) started the Trailblazers response, taking a feed from freshman forward Sol Mierzwa (Austin, TX) for a layup coming out of the timeout to get back within six points. The teams would swap baskets for much of the remaining first half before junior guard Colin Quinn (South Hadley, MA) drained a three from the left elbow to close the first half with the Rams leading 36-33.
- After Framingham opened the half with a pair of baskets, the Trailblazers put together a mini-scoring run with senior guard Craig Williams (Dover, DE) knocking down a three before getting MCLA back within two with a layup.
- The Rams would respond, eventually growing out to their largest lead of the afternoon with six and a half minutes to play in the second half at 63-52 on a dunk by Joshua Saint Jean. The Trailblazers responded, scoring five unanswered points on a three-pointer by Quinn and a pair of free throws by Williams to again close within six points at 63-57.
- Another long run by MCLA would follow as the clock moved under three minutes to go. Junior guard Kamau Franks (Converse, TX) started the run with a three from the left elbow before adding a pair of free throws, and Quinn converted on an and-one opportunity for a three-point play, tying the game at 70 all with two minutes remaining before finishing regulation tied at 75.
- The Rams closed out the overtime period on a 9-3 run to secure the win.
- MCLA's Williams led all scorers with 27 points and added eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Quinn added 20 points and dished out three assists. Franks rounded out the trio of Trailblazers with double-figure scoring games. Freshman guard Frank Field (Adams, MA) tied Williams for the team-high of eight rebounds.
