Ortega Strong First Year

First-year men's golfer, Shane Ortega from Pittsfield, MA, finished the fall on top. He used the month of September to transition into the collegiate golf scene and when October hit he made a huge impression on head golf coach David Bond.

October started with a trip to Chicopee Country Club for the Blazer Invitational hosted by Elms College. Never playing the 71 par course before, Ortega finished with a 74 and tied for second out of 63 golfers.

He continued in fine fashion as the Trailblazers traveled to the picturesque Penobscot Valley Country Club in Maine (par 72) for the Husson College Invitational. Husson is a nationally ranked program and Ortega shot par on day one while finishing in a tie for second.

MCLA then made the short trip to Tekoa Country Club (par 71) for the Westfeild State Invitational. The Trailblazers finished second out of four teams and it was Ortega who lead the way. He shot a 76 and finished tied for third.
