Cota, Ortega solid as MCLA has strong showing in opening round of NEIGA

Brewster, MA- Sean Cota had his best round of the fall shooting a three over 75 while Shane Ortega chipped in with a 76 in pacing MCLA on day one of the NEIGA championships. The Trailblazers are eighth among division III teams. Play will resume tomorrow morning in the 36 hole event.
The event is a competition with all divisions (I, II, and III) teeing off. There are team and medalist awards given in each division.
Cota is currently 8th overall (2nd among division III participants), trailing the overall leader, Steven Zychowski of Holy Cross by 5 shots. Ortega is tied for 15th, just six off the pace.
MCLA is tied for 18th in the entire field with a score of 320. Bryant University and Holy Cross lead the overall championship with a score of 301, while Salem State is the top Division III school at 308.
