Williamstown, MA- The MCLA Golf team opened up the 2012 season as they hosted the Trailblazer Invitational at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown. Rhode Island College took home both of the top honors, claiming the team title, while Anchormen Kyle Harper was medalist after shooting a 74 on the par 71 layout.
RIC had four players break 80 en route to a team total of 306 to easily outdistance Westfield State by 22 shots. Cobleskill was next with 329, while MCLA finished fourth at 359.
Trailblazer Taylor Dunn had a nice round finishing a shot back of Harper with a 75 to tie for second alongside RIC's Pat Ford. Dunn had an even par 35 on the front side before coming home in 40.
Harper was consistent throughout going out in 38 before coming shooting an even par 36 on the back nine.
Cobleskill was led by Travis Devel's 78, good enough for T-3. Westfield was led by Scott Walters' 79. Trailblazer Sean Cota also shot 79.
MCLA will next compete in the Williams College invitational this weekend at Taconic Golf Club.
