Golf hosts MASCAC preview at Berkshire Hills

Pittsfield, MA- The MCLA Golf team opened their 2021 season today by hosting the MASCAC preview at Berkshire Hills Country Club in Pittsfield, MA. All eight MASCAC schools got a chance to play the venue that will host their championship in just three weeks. Salem State took home top team honors with a score of 313. Viking Matt Godbout earned medalist honors with a 75 over the par 72 layout.
MCLA finished in 8th place.
Trailblazers Brett Norman and Paul Roeder led MCLA respectively. Norman carded an 87 that included a pair of birdies. Roeder was one shot back of Norman shooting an 88. His round included a pair of birdies as well.
Salem State's Godbout held off teammate Ethan Doyle and Westfield's J.J. Newcombe and Brandon Smith.
The Vikings had all four scores inside the top 12 of the event to defeat the Owls by 9 shots. Mitchell College finished in third place while Springfield placed fourth.
Other schools competing included Worcester State, Eastern Nazarene, and New England College.
The MASCAC Championship will be hosted by MCLA on October 4-5 at Berkshire Hills.
