Stoltz, White Lead MCLA to 4th Place Finish at MASCAC Championship
The MCLA Golf team finished in 4th place at this weekend’s MASCAC Championship.
UXBRIDGE, Mass.— Led by Rocco Stolz and Cody White who finished individually as part of a three-way tie for 14th place, the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Golf team finished 4th in this year's Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championship held at Blissful Meadows Golf Course, hosted by Worcester State University.
Marymount University (VA) which held a five-stroke advantage following the first-round on Saturday pulled away Sunday to take home their first MASCAC Championship with a 625, +49. Springfield College (637, +61) edged out Salem State (639, +63) by two strokes for second place. MCLA (670, +94) earned a fourth-place finish ahead of Westfield State (686, +110), Marywood (689, +113) and Worcester State (706, +130).
Salem State's Matthew Tramonte and Springfield College's David Girourd found themselves deadlocked (153, +59) at the end of regulation play. Tramonte ultimately prevailed in extra holes to claim the individual title.
Stolz's second round 77 was just three strokes behind the day's best and put him in a three-way tie with teammate White and Salem State's Anthony Choukas (165, +21). Frank Field (168, +24) finished in 18th place while fellow Trailblazers Easton Moore finished 22nd (172, +28) and Luc Fricchione (184, +40) tied for 32nd.
The Trailblazers wrap up their Fall season on Tuesday at Westfield State's Brett Williamson Invitational at Tekoa Country Club.
