BOSTON, Mass. – The MCLA Men's Ice Hockey team wrapped up their appearance in the 60th Annual Codfish Bowl, hosted by UMass Boston this afternoon, falling in overtime to the Western New England University Golden Bears, 3-2. Sam Perdion scored twice for the Trailblazers while Everest Schneider scored the game winner for the Bears in OT.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- WNEU posted the first point of the game when Matthew Dougherty (PP, 11:23 of 1st period, assisted by Philippe Longchamp and Nick Theodos) converted on a power play opportunity.
- MCLA scored an equalizer as the first period was coming to a close when freshman forward Sam Perdion (Strongsville, OH / Charlotte Rush) (19:48, Zis & Green) lit the lamp with assists being credited to sophomore forward Sam Zis (Boulder, CO / Connecticut Chiefs) and junior defenseman Shane Green (Bear, DE / Philadelphia Little Flyers). The assists were the third of the season for both Zis and Green.
- The Trailblazers took the lead just short of six and a half minutes into the second period when Perdion (6:28 of 2nd period, Kenny & Gallagher) scored his second goal of the night, making the most of a man advantage. The goals brought Perdion's season total to three goals while the assists were the second in as many games for freshman defenseman Kieran Kenny (Edmonton, AB / Philadelphia H.C.) and first of the season for junior forward Christopher Gallagher (Albany, NY / Islanders H.C.).
- It was then the Golden Bears' turn to find an equalizer, and it was Dougherty (SH, 15:33, unassisted) again who put the biscuit in the basket, scoring his second of the night and second of the season and sending the teams into the second intermission tied at two all.
- Despite WNEU outshooting the Trailblazers 10-7 in the third period, the deadlock stood through the entire frame, forcing bonus hockey for the fans at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink.
- During the three-on-three portion of the afternoon, it was the Golden Bears' Everest Schneider (3:21 of OT period, Brayden Patricia) finishing the game, with 99 seconds left in the OT.
- Nikita Volsky stopped 23 of 25 shots faced for WNEU to pick up his first win and moving his record to 1-5-0. For MCLA it was Josh Girard taking the hard luck loss, falling to 0-3-1 despite stopping 25 of 28 shots.
