Men’s Hockey Drop 3-1 Game to Assumption
MCLA fell in non-conference action this evening.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Men's Ice Hockey team welcomed the second NE10 team into the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink in as many games, this time playing host to the Assumption University Greyhounds. The D2 team from Worcester scored a pair of first-period goals before adding an empty-net goal in the closing seconds to secure a 3-1 win for the road team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Assumption scored a pair of goals in the first period. The goals were credited to Jamison Alicandro (7:11 of 1st period, unassisted) and Jonathan Surrette (18:53, assisted by Jake Russell).
- MCLA would cut the Greyhound lead in half in the second period when junior defenseman Shane Green (Bear, DE / Philadelphia Little Flyers) (16:40 of 2nd period, Murphy & Herrera) sniped a wrist shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that found its way through traffic and into the net. Junior forwards Quinn Murphy (Champaign, IL / Philadelphia H.C.) and Cade Herrera (Brentwood, CA / Seahawks H.C.) were credited with the assists. The goal was the first of the year for Green, while the helpers were sixth and fifth, respectively, for Murphy and Herrera.
- The Greyhounds would add an empty net goal by Jake Dinapoli (19:10 of 3rd period, Caden Connors) in the closing seconds to set the final score at 3-1.
- For Assumption, Brayden Ingram stopped 27 of 28 shots to pick up the win, moving to 1-1-0 for the year. The Trailblazers' freshman goalie, Roco Stolz (Denver, CO / Charlotte Rush), recorded a season-high 54 saves but still fell to 3-5-1.
