HIGHLIGHTS
- Despite Williams enjoying an 18-6 advantage in shots, the teams went into the first intermission without posting a goal.
- The shutout wouldn't hold long into the second period because the Ephs posted the first goal of the game when Wilson Farrow (1:58 of 2nd period, assisted by Welsch) broke through, with the assist being credited to Brady Welsch.
- The Trailblazers quickly found an equalizer, making the most of a power play opportunity when junior forward Easton Moore (Red Deer, AB / Florida Eels) (PP, 2:58, Green & Murphy) fired a wrist shot from the left faceoff dot that had eyes to make it through traffic and into the goal. Junior defenseman Shane Green (Bear, DE / Philadelphia Little Flyers) and junior forward Quinn Murphy (Champaign, IL / Philadelphia H.C.) were credited with the helpers. The goal was the third of the season for Moore, while the assist was the seventh for Murphy.
- MCLA wasn't content with the tie and pushed in front about 10 minutes later when junior forward Cade Herrera (Brentwood, CA / Seahawks H.C) (12:31, Green & Moore) cleaned up a rebound in front of the net off a shot by Green. It was Herrera's sixth goal of the year, while Green and Moore were noted as the helpers. The assists were the seventh of the season for both Green and Moore.
- With the home team ahead 2-1 at the second intermission, the Ephs bounced back early in the third period, scoring twice in about two and a half minutes. The first goal was credited to Welsch (0:22 of 3rd period, Krill) with an assist to Jackson Krill. Krill would also pick up an assist on the second goal, helping Jared Lambright (2:32, Krill) give Williams a 3-2 lead.
- For the second time in the game, the Trailblazers pulled level again, this time junior forward Christopher Gallagher (Albany. NY / Islanders H.C.) (8:15, Craig & Zis) redirected a shot from junior defenseman Spencer Craig (Glendale, AZ / Northern Cyclones). The goal was the third of the season for Gallagher while the helpers were the second and fourth for Craig and Zis, respectively.
- The stalemate would continue through the remainder of the third period, and for the entirety of the overtime period. Only the Ephs' Conner Fitzpatrick was successful in the shootout, allowing the visiting team to go home happy.
- MCLA's freshman goalie Roco Stolz (Denver, CO / Charlotte Rush) stopped 63 of 66 shots and moved to 3-5-2 for the season. Williams' Harrison Fogel recorded 14 saves on 17 shots to change his record to 0-1-1.
