HIGHLIGHTS
- MCLA opened the game red hot, scoring two goals in the first five minutes and four total in the first period. The first goal was credited to junior forward Cody White (Orange, CT / East Coast Wizards) (2:34 of 1st period, assisted by Zis & Rhoss), with the assists going to sophomore forward Sam Zis (Boulder, CO / Connecticut Chiefs) and junior forward Luke Rhoss (Monroe, NY / Philadelphia H.C.). It was White's first goal of the season, while the assists were numbers six and three for Zis and Rhoss, respectively.
- The second goal was scored by Rhoss (5:10, Ogborn) with just over five minutes off the clock, with a helper going to junior defenseman Colin Ogborn (Linwood, NJ / Philadelphia H.C.). The goal was Rhoss' third of the season, while the assist was Ogborn's third. For Rhoss, it was his second multi-point game in as many games, following his goal and assist showing at Rivier on Thursday.
- The Trailblazers added a pair of power-play goals to close out the period. With the clock ticking under nine minutes to go in the opening period, junior forward Christopher Gallagher (Albany, NY / Islanders H.C.) (PP, 11:08, Moore) connected on his fourth goal of the year while junior forward Easton Moore (Red Deer, AB / Florida Eels) picked up the first of what would be three assists on the night.
- Junior forward Cade Herrera (Brentwood, CA / Seahawks H.C) (PP, 18:52, Gallagher & Moore) closed out the explosive period for the Trailblazers, capitalizing on a wrister from the left face-off circle. The goal was Herrera's team leading 11th of the season. The dime was the fourth of the year for Gallagher.
- Just past the midpoint of the second period, MCLA tacked on another goal, this time shorthanded off the stick of junior forward Quinn Murphy (Champaign, IL / Philadelphia H.C.) (SH, 10:04 of 2nd period, unassisted) after Murphy cut off a Rams pass, skated the length of the rink and beat the goalie low to his stick side, chasing the Framingham net minder from the game. The goal was Murphy's sixth of the season, and third in the last two games.
- Framingham would respond, however, potting a couple of goals before the second intermission. The first was scored on a power play by Brent Scott (PP 16:23, Barcelou) assisted by Jake Barcelou and the other unassisted by Samuel Larkin (18:05, unassisted) to send the teams into the locker room with MCLA ahead 5-2.
- The Trailblazers were done on offense, tagging the Rams for two more goals in the final frame. With just under seven minutes remaining, Moore picked off a pass in the MCLA defensive end and chipped the puck to freshman forward Sam Perdion (Strongsville, OH / Charlotte Rush). Perdion (13:17 of the 3rd period, Moore) then zoomed into the Rams' defensive end and slipped the puck past the goalie. The score was the seventh of the season for the freshman, while the assist brought Moore's season total to 14.
- Sophomore forward Sam Zis (Boulder, CO / Connecticut Chiefs) (18:39, unassisted) closed out the scoring, adding an insurance goal with around a minute and a half to play when his shot into the crowd in front of the net found its way home. The goal was Zis' fourth of the season.
- The Trailblazers' freshman goalie Roco Stolz (Bloomfield Hills, MI / Charlotte Rush) improved to 6-10-2 on the season, stopping 30 of 32 shots to pick up the win. Liam Kilgallen took the loss to drop to 1-4-0 after recording 25 saves on 30 shots. Owen Swanbon stopped 12 of 14 shots in a relief effort.
