Men’s Hockey Fall in OT to AMC in MASCAC Semifinal
MCLA dropped a MASCAC playoff game this evening.
AUBURN, Mass. – The MCLA Men's Ice Hockey team took to the road looking for their second upset in the MASCAC playoffs, this time facing off with the top-seeded Anna Maria College AMCATs at the Horgan Arena. A pair of power play goals by the Trailblazers weren't enough to overcome the home team's Nolan Ring tying the game late in the third period, and then scored the game winner in overtime to advance to the next round.

- Score: #5 MCLA 2, #1 AMC 3 (OT)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MCLA posted the first goal of the game during a power play opportunity when freshman forward Charles Vukovic (Castaic, CA / Express Hockey Club) won a faceoff that was drawn over to freshman forward Jacob Smith (Medford, NJ / Philadelphia H.C.) along the right wall and sent it back to junior defenseman Shane Green (Bear, DE / Philadelphia Little Flyers) at the right point who sent it along the blue line to freshman forward Sam Perdion (Strongsville, OH / Charlotte Rush) (PP, 11:45 of the 1st period, assisted by Green & Smith) who went to one knee on a slapper that just cleared the top bar into the net.
- Perdion's goal would stand as the only goal until the AMCATs could find their first equalizer of the night, only seconds into the third period, scoring the first of what would be two power play goals and two goals for the home team in the period. The first goal was credited to Pearce Baker (PP, 0:32 of the 3rd period, Della Paolera), with the assist going to Brandon Della Paolera.
- MCLA would retake the lead just under four minutes later when junior forward Quinn Murphy (Champaign, IL / Philadelphia H.C.) (PP, 4:29, Herrera & Moore) buried a pass from junior forward Cade Herrera (Brentwood, CA / Seahawks H.C). Junior forward Easton Moore (Red Deer, AB / Florida Eels) was also noted as providing an assist on the goal.
- With the clock winding towards eight minutes remaining, AMC would find the second equalizer of the game, this time it was Nolan Ring (12:54, Rynard & McKinnon) who scored with the helpers being noted as Hayden Rynard and Braeden McKinnon.
- The AMCATs then posted a game winner when Ring (1:23 of the first overtime period, unassisted) pushed in a goal out of a scrum in front of the MCLA net a little over a minute into the extra period to move on to the MASCAC Finals. The AMCATs will host the third-seeded Westfield State, which also won in overtime over Fitchburg State.
- AMC's Matthew Hennessey stopped 36 of 38 shots and improved to 16-3-2 for the season. MCLA's freshman goalie Roco Stolz (Bloomfield Hills, MI / Charlotte Rush) finished his season with a record of 8-12-2 after recording 37 saves against 40 shots.
