Six Trailblazers Earn CSC At-Large Academic All-District Honors
MCLA's Shane Green, Quinn Murphy, Charlie Addesa, James Julian, Sam Zis, and Easton Moore have earned CSC Academic All-District honors.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Men's Ice Hockey players Shane Green (Bear, DE), Quinn Murphy (Champaign, IL), and Charlie Addesa (Andover, MA), Lacrosse player James Julian (Leominster, MA), and dual sport athletes Sam Zis (Boulder, CO) and Easton Moore (Red Deer, AB) have earned All-District recognition by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American program.
This is the first time Zis and Green have been honored, while it is the second time for Murphy, Addesa, Julian, and Moore, who were previously honored as part of the At-Large All-District team last year. They join 13 student-athletes who earned the honor this fall, five who earned the honor this winter, and three Women's Ice Hockey players who were named to the Women's At-Large All-District team earlier this week, and follow 30 athletes from the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years. Prior to 2023, no MCLA athlete had been honored by CSC since 2019, when softball outfielder Kaitlyn Berghela was named to the Academic All-American Division III third team.
The graduate student and co-captain on a very young MCLA Lacrosse team, Julian was second on the team with 14 caused turnovers and completed his collegiate career as the program's all-time leader in the category with 64. His influence was most felt during the Trailblazers 8-6 victory over St. Joseph's College (L.I.) on March 21st, when he had four caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls. Julian was part of a defense core that limited Centenary to just three goals en route to a 22-3 win over the Cyclones on March 18th. Julian is a four-year member of the Trailblazer lacrosse program, completed his undergraduate degree in English last fall, and will finish his advanced degree this fall.
Murphy was a top-six forward for the Trailblazers, third on the team with seven goals and 18 points, and tied for second with 11 assists. He also had a team-high .590 faceoff win percentage, winning 335 times. Murphy picked up at least one point in each of his final five games and in seven of the final eight. That streak included a two-goal performance in the Trailblazers 5-1 win at Rivier on February 12th. Murphy is a three-year member of the Trailblazer hockey program and is majoring in business.
A defensive-minded centerman, Addesa was a key performer for MCLA, frequently centering the line matched up with the opponent's top line. He finished the season with one point on an assist of the Trailblazers' opening goal in a 4-1 win over Rivier on December 4th. He was also second on the team with a .543 faceoff win percentage. Addesa finished his third season with the Trailblazer hockey program and is majoring in business.
A key facilitator on offense for MCLA, Green was fourth on the team with nine assists. During a stretch of five games after the winter break, the defenseman recorded seven points in five games, including a pair of assists in both the matchup with Franklin Pierce on January 6th and Williams College on January 13th. The two assist games were sandwiched around his lone goal against Assumption on January 9th. Green is a three-year member of the Trailblazer hockey program and is majoring in business.
Moore is the first of our dual-sport athletes to qualify for the CSC At-Large All-District Team. He is a co-captain of the hockey team and a member of the MCLA golf team. On the ice, Moore led the team with 16 assists and was second on the team with 22 points. He had six multi-point games, including a two-goal, one assist night in the Trailblazers 5-2 win over Hiram College on November 7th, and a three-assist night during MCLA's 7-2 win over Framingham State on February 14th. The junior leader ramped up as the playoffs approached, notching 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists) in the team's final nine games. Moore finished his third season with the Trailblazer hockey and golf programs and is majoring in business.
Rounding out the MCLA contingent, Zis was a member of both the men's hockey team and the golf team. The sophomore was tied for fourth on the hockey team with six goals and sixth with six assists. Zis notched a pair of goals in the Trailblazers' 7-2 win over Framingham State on February 14th and recorded a multi-point game, recording a goal and an assist in MCLA's 5-2 win at Hiram College on November 7th. On the links, the sophomore helped the MCLA to take fourth place in the season-opening Lou Garvis invitational on September 8th. Zis is a three-year member of the Trailblazer hockey and golf programs and is majoring in business.
