Moore's OT goal lifts MCLA past Westfield State in MASCAC action

WESTFIELD, MASS. - MCLA senior forward Jesse Moore notched the game winning goal just seconds into the second overtime period in lifting the Trailblazers past the Westfield State Owls this afternoon in Men's Soccer.  MCLA remains unbeaten in conference play with the win and sits atop the league standings at 2-0-1.

Trailblazers senior Anthony Basile (East Longmeadow, Mass.) scored 13:33 into the first half of the game off a free kick in center field resulting in a 1-0 MCLA lead.

Down the stretch, Westfield State's sophomore Brodie Keene (Agawam, Mass.) trickled a shot past junior goalkeeper Kamron Anderson (Springfield, Mass. / Springfield Central) after an assist by senior Joey Pantuosco (Somers, Conn.) to knot the game at 1-1 in the 85^th minute.

It wasn't until double overtime and the 100^th minute of the match, when Trailblazers' senior Jesse Moore (Castleton, NY/ Maple Hill) made a diving header from the right side of the field shooting the ball into the net resulting in a 2-1 final score.

MCLA led 20-7 in total shots, 11-4 shots on goal and 9-2 in corner kicks.

Owls' keeper Alex Kraver (West Springfield, Mass.) played 100 minutes, making nine saves on the day and allowing one goal. Junior goalkeeper Marc Patnaude (North Andover, Mass.) played the last 15 minutes and allowed one goal in net.

Anderson played all 110 minutes of the game and made three saves and allowed one goal for the Trailblazers.

The Owls fall to 5-4-1, 1-1-1 in the MASCAC, while the Trailblazers improve to 5-4-1 and 2-0-1 in the MASCAC.

Westfield State will host Framingham State in a conference match Saturday, October eighth at 1:00 p.m.

MCLA will host Worcester State Friday, October seventh at 6:00 p.m.
