Men’s Soccer Falls to Roger Williams in Nonconference Action
The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Men’s Soccer team fell to 4-0 Roger Williams today.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Men's Soccer team fell to visiting Roger Williams University 4-0 this afternoon in nonconference action. With the result, Roger Williams improves to 4-0-1 while MCLA drops to 2-3-0.
A Will Schifer corner in the 6th minute found Dylan Robbins who headed the ball just past the out stretch arms of Trailblazer keeper Oliver Le Lacheur (L, 2-3-0) to give the visiting Hawks an early 1-0 lead.
In the 21st minute another set piece header made it 2-0 when Liam Blaisdell found the back of the net off a Schifer free kick.
The Hawks kept the pressure on coming out of half and in the 53rd minute Robbins punched home a tight Blaisdell cross to make it 3-0. Patrick Marino added one more Roger Williams goal to give the Hawks a 4-0 nonconference win.
Roger Williams outshot MCLA 20-12 and had a 9-5 advantage in corners. Hawk goalies TJ Machowski (W, 3-3-0) and Josh Bates combined for the clean sheet with Machowski making all four stops. Despite incurring the loss, MCLA's Le Lacheur made ten saves in the contest.
Roger Williams next hosts Bates on Wednesday while MCLA welcomes Sage College to Shewcraft Field on Tuesday at 4pm.
